Written and Directed byJoe Flynn
Joe Flynn’s DRIVE is an unflinching exploration of four college friends and their coming of age, set to the sound of East London’s youth. From adolescence on the estate to adulthood in the city, follow our unlikely frontmen as they charm their way through this boldly comic and musical retelling of Joe’s teenage experiences. Translated via lyricism of today’s urban generation, DRIVE brings the magic of making music in your mate’s living room to the stage, letting audiences in on years of friendship. With quiet potency, Drive candidly unpicks the codes that construct ideas of masculinity in British working-class boys.

Costume Drawings
For DRIVE, the focus was on modest, real, and natural costumes that felt true to the world of the play. It was important that nothing felt overdesigned — just worn-in, lived-in pieces that reflected who these boys are and where they come from. Joe Flynn’s world is raw and specific, and the costumes had to support that without ever getting in the way. From tracksuits to hand-me-downs, the aim was authenticity — clothes that quietly speak to place, pride, and the pressures of growing up.

Digital Marketing Designs

Working on the digital marketing helped us reach people beyond our immediate circles. It played a key role in spreading the word about our crowdfunder, which supported the show’s development. It helped promote our open mic night, which brought the community together and built interest ahead of the Fringe.
